15-year-old killed in crash on Gandy Bridge after DUI
A 15-year-old was killed Friday morning when an impaired driver collided with her vehicle on the shoulder of the Gandy Bridge. Police closed the eastbound lanes of the Gandy several hours after the crash. Authorities say 28-year-old Sebastian Gutierrez collided with an Infiniti on the roadside. A 20-year-old male driver of the Infiniti ran out of gas and pulled over to the left shoulder. Upon exiting his car, the driver observed what looked like a drunk driver swerving towards them. A 20-year-old man driving a vehicle with two 17-year-old girls and one 15-year-old girl had tried to warn them ahead of time of the crash, according to police reports. During the collision, 15-year-old was standing outside of the car and was killed. In the rear passenger seat of the vehicle, the 17-year-old suffered minor injuries. As a result of being pinned between the guardrail and the vehicle, the 20-year-old rear passenger suffered minor injuries to his left leg. Gutierrez remained at the scene and did not appear to be injured. DUI manslaughter charges were filed against Gutierrez after police discovered signs of impaired driving.
